Cookie Policy

This page explains the cookies LingoPlace uses.

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember information about your visit.

Our Cookies

LingoPlace uses first-party cookies for sessions, sign-in, and browser-extension
session isolation:

Cookie Purpose Duration Security
_lingo_place_hub_key Keeps your normal web session active and supports CSRF protection Session HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax
_lingo_place_hub_extension_key Keeps the browser-extension iframe session separate from the web app Session HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=None, Partitioned
_lingo_place_hub_web_user_remember_me Keeps you logged in between visits when you select “Remember me” 14 days HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax

Session Cookies — Created during normal web or extension use to store secure
session tokens, support session integrity and CSRF protection, and keep the
browser-extension iframe session separate from the regular web session. Deleted when
you close your browser.

Remember Me Cookie — Created if you select “Remember me” at login. Keeps you logged in for 14 days. You can remove it by logging out.

Managing Cookies

You can view, delete, or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking our cookies may prevent sign-in, session integrity, CSRF protection, or browser-extension session features from working correctly.

Analytics

We use cookieless analytics to understand how visitors use LingoPlace. Our analytics
tool — Umami, self-hosted on our own EU infrastructure — does not set any cookies in
your browser
and does not use persistent identifiers in your browser. It briefly reads
the umami.disabled local-storage value only to honor your opt-out preference if you set
one.

See our Privacy Policy — Visitor Analytics
for full details on what is collected, how long it is retained, and how to opt out.

Local Storage

LingoPlace uses browser local storage for limited first-party preferences:

Key Purpose Duration
phx:theme Remembers your selected light, dark, or system mode Until you clear site data or change theme
phx:color-theme Remembers your selected color theme Until you clear site data or change theme
umami.disabled Honors an analytics opt-out flag if you set one Until you clear site data or remove the flag

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
